May 29 Day 3 Hope to Manning Park 76.9 K

Into the mountains finally. And lots of climbing: Tug and I left Hope early to get up Allison Pass (1353m) in the coolest part of the day. We reached the top by early afternoon on hot day. Two long, moderate climbs of 14 - 16 K; along the way saw 2 black ears and mule deer. Hot and windy. We took our time and Suzi, Jean and Bob caught up to us at various points and then joined us for lunch at the Manning Park Lodge at the top. Mule Deer Campground is a BC provincial park (no showers) and a boil water sign of the water taps. Tug was the only one of us who thought to be safe and refill at the Lodge. The campsite was 10 K downhill past the Lodge so most of us figured we would be okay, only to find that water was at a premium. Everyone joined us in one campsite and we washed ourselves in the fast flowing, very cold river.
