June 14 Day 19 Stoughton SK to Reston MB 149k

On to Manitoba. Another kind woman agreed to feed us breakfast at 6:00am so we ate early and were grateful for it. The roads were quite variable, with depressed bumps jarring our bodies and bikes along the way to Arcola, then brand new, smooth road to Carlyle. At the MB border, the paved shoulder became a gravel shoulder but with light traffic this was not a problem. The truck drivers are particularly good at pulling over into the far lane to avoid hitting us with their air pressure wave. Many private drivers also do the same thing and it is appreciated. Not much to report except that we continued to enjoy some really nice interactions with people when we chat with them, which invariably happens because we say hi to everyone or they see our loaded bikes and ask what we are doing, where we came from, or are going. At the Reston campsite, we were invited to supper, wine and and some lively conversation with a couple from Hamilton. Jim and Barbara, who are both retired and touring with their trailer, so we shared some tales about our lives, retirement and current activities. It was wonderful evening and we slept well after the good food and wine!
