Day 9 Creston to Cranbrook 109.3 k
A comparatively flat ride with lots of long gradual hills, but slowed by moderate headwinds. Passed through some historic places ( Yahk, Moyie, etc) that thrived in the heyday of the the CPR's Kettle Valley Railway, but now seem to have a look of abandonment and disrepair. The effects of the economic downturn and the softwood lumber disputes have certainly hurt this area of BC. Stopped for lunch at Moyie and Michael joined us again! He has been visiting places in the southern BC mountains and following routes that are much different from ours, yet we have crossed paths at Hope, Midway and Moyie. After lunch we took some photos and then he sped by us on his way to Banff and Jasper. By the time we reached Cranbrook, it was another hot day. Set up camp at Mount Baker RV park and Campground. While registering, read the weather news for the next few days for points east of here. Sounds like cold, windy conditons and probably snow could hit much of the area east of us starting late tomorrow.
